About Dr. Baugus

Bruce P. Baugus is associate professor of philosophy and theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, where he has taught courses in systematic theology, philosophical theology, ethics, and apologetics since 2008. A teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), he serves on the General Assembly’s theological examining committee, is a past moderator of the Presbytery of Mississippi Valley, and chairs that body’s Credentials Committee.

Born in Easton, Maryland, Bruce holds degrees from Penn State (BS in geography, 1996), Southern Seminary (MDiv, 1999), and Calvin Theological Seminary (PhD, philosophical and moral theology, 2009). A former pastor, he has also served as a ruling elder on sessions of PCA churches in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Jackson, Mississippi. He serves on the board of several institutions involved in the global development of Reformed theological education and regularly teaches overseas and around the country.

He is the author of Reformed Moral Theology and editor of China’s Reforming Churches: Mission, Polity, and Ministry in the Next Christendom (both by Reformation Heritage Books). He has also authored of a number of chapters, articles, papers, and reviews, and occasional contributes to popular outlets like Tabletalk and reformation21.org.

Bruce is married to Tricia, who is active in Women in Ministry at RTS, and together they have two sons: Nathanael and Bryant.
