Reformed Theological Seminary Appoints Dr. Tony Doggett as Acting Chief Development Officer

Dr. Doggett to maintain Chief of Staff role while expanding leadership responsibilities

JACKSON, Miss. – Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) announces the appointment of Tony Doggett as Acting Chief Development Officer, effective immediately. Dr. Tony Doggett

Dr. Doggett brings extensive institutional knowledge and proven leadership experience to his expanded role, having served as the Chancellor’s Chief of Staff since 2023. While continuing in that role, he will take on expanded responsibilities to lead the seminary’s development and fundraising efforts. RTS’s Executive Committee unanimously approved the new appointment on August 7, 2025.

“I am thankful to God for Tony. His wisdom, experience, humility, and love for RTS are apparent to all his colleagues. Tony has demonstrated exceptional leadership, and a deep understanding of RTS’s mission, and how RTS works as one seminary with multiple campuses,” said Dr. Ligon Duncan, Chancellor and CEO of Reformed Theological Seminary. “His unique combination of operational expertise and pastoral temperament positions him perfectly to advance our development efforts, while maintaining the relational approach that our partners in ministry so appreciate. This dual role also allows for unprecedented coordination between our institutional priorities and development strategy.”

In his expanded capacity, Dr. Doggett will oversee all aspects of RTS’s development program, including development staff, donor relations, fundraising strategy and development communications across the seminary’s eight campuses. His continued role as Chief of Staff ensures seamless coordination between development initiatives and institutional operations.

“Tony’s appointment represents a strategic enhancement of our leadership capacity,” said Richard Ridgway, Chairman of the RTS Board of Trustees. “His proven track record of building relationships and executing complex initiatives across our multi-campus system makes him uniquely qualified for this expanded role. The Board has complete confidence in his ability to advance RTS’s mission through strengthened development efforts.”

Dr. Doggett’s background includes a distinguished academic and professional career prior to entering ministry. He holds a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary Jackson. Prior to employment at RTS, he worked as a faculty member at Mississippi State University and served as Program Coordinator for the School Psychology Programs. Following his employment at MSU, he provided professional consultation services to school districts, assisting them in implementing organizational change strategies and empirically-based educational practices. In his Chief of Staff role, he has been instrumental in organizational administration, strategy development, communication, development and fundraising, project management, and board relations.

“I am honored by the confidence the RTS Board and leadership team have placed in me,” said Dr. Doggett. “RTS has been blessed for over 60 years with generous supporters who share our passion for preparing faithful ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I look forward to leading our staff in this dual role and working alongside fellow ministry partners to glorify our triune God and fulfill our mission.”

The appointment comes as RTS continues to expand its impact in theological education, serving students across multiple campuses and through its Global online program. The Seminary’s commitment to the authority of Scripture, Reformed theology, and practical ministry preparation continues to attract students and supporters from around the world.
