DALLAS — Reformed Theological Seminary is pleased to announce that RTS Dallas will now offer the Master of Arts (Biblical Studies) (MABS) degree program. Registration is now available to new students or those who wish to transfer to the MABS program.
“It fills me with gratitude that this degree will be offered in addition to the Master of Divinity and Master of Arts (Theological Studies),” said Dr. Mark McDowell, RTS Dallas Executive Director. “With the presence of G.K. Beale and John Currid as residential professors in Dallas, we are thrilled that our students will be trained by two biblical scholars with a deep pedigree, a wealth of experience and expertise, and a deep commitment to Christ’s church.”
Professor of New Testament Dr. G.K. Beale agreed: “RTS Dallas has faculty with more experience in teaching biblical studies than many schools in the United States. Also, together with our library, other libraries in the immediate area also specialize in biblical studies and provide the best combination of sources for biblical studies than almost anywhere else in the U.S. If you want to study Hebrew Old Testament and Greek New Testament, whether to be better prepared for ministry or for doctoral study, this is the place to come for an MABS.”
The MABS curriculum is designed for Christians who desire to integrate biblical studies with cultural and social concerns. With 66 credits weighted toward biblical studies, graduates of the program obtain a biblical framework for their life and work, whether in a church staff position or a career outside of vocational ministry. Students also have the option of completing the degree fully online through RTS Global.
RTS’ approval from the Association of Theological Schools to offer the MABS in Dallas makes it the only degree program to be offered at every RTS campus and online.
“RTS Dallas has been thriving in recent years with MDiv and MATS offerings,” said Academic Dean Dr. D. Blair Smith. “It’s only going to get stronger with the strategic addition of the MABS degree. Experienced biblical scholars at the top of their fields will lead this course of study. In addition to their expertise in languages and exegesis, Dr. Beale brings deep knowledge of biblical theology and Dr. Currid of archeology. Our MABS students will have a unique opportunity to learn from these scholars who are also men of piety and desire to shape students’ minds and hearts.”
