(ORLANDO, Fla.) – December 16, 2013 – John Frame, professor of systematic theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, was recently honored by his peers for his just published work Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Christian Belief. This 1,115 page volume represents a lifetime achievement for Frame and, if you read all the pages of endorsements, is expected to be a great benefit to the church at large for generations to come.
“Wonderfully clear, refreshingly insightful, profoundly biblical…an outstanding achievement,” notes theologian Wayne Grudem. Comments and praise from seminary leaders, pastors and professors are found in the 20 pages of endorsements.
“Few in our day champion such a vision of God as massive, magnificent, and biblical as does John Frame,” writes John Piper. “For decades, he has given himself to the church, to his students, and to meticulous thinking and the rigorous study of the Bible.”
P&R Publishers summarizes the book this way:
“Systematic Theology is the culmination and creative synthesis of John Frame’s writing on, teaching about, and studying of the Word of God. This magisterial opus—at once biblical, clear, cogent, readable, accessible, and practical—summarizes the mature thought of one of the most important and original Reformed theologians of the last hundred years. It will enable you to see clearly how the Bible explains God’s great, sweeping plan for mankind.”
Frame was one of three plenary speakers (D.A. Carson and Ben Witherington III were the other two) at the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society November 20.
Don Sweeting, president of RTS Orlando, said, “We thank God for his goodness in the life of John Frame. John’s teaching ministry at RTS Orlando and his extensive writing ministry have been a huge blessing to the church. John writes in a straight forward, clear style. His real burden is to tell what the Bible says as applied to the major issues and teachings of the Christian church. If you have not read Frame, get a copy of this key volume.”
Sweeting has invited Frame to be his guest at a president’s forum on “Systematic Theology: A Lifetime Achievement” at 12 noon on February 26, 2014, at RTS Orlando. This event will be open to the public.
