Every spring, the Charlotte campus welcomes area pastors to the RTS Chapel to bring the Word of God to students, faculty, staff, and the local community. The spring schedule also includes preaching from two graduating seniors.
President Michael Kruger commented on the purpose of chapel: “One of the fundamental tenets of Reformed theology is the centrality of preaching. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones said, ‘The primary task of the Church and of the Christian minister is the preaching of the Word of God’ (Preachers and Preaching, 19). For this reason, we believe weekly chapel is an integral part of seminary training. It is an opportunity to hear the Word preached in the context of preparing for the ministry.”
During chapel, RTS Charlotte closes the library and coffee shop, so that the entire RTS community and friends can gather for corporate worship during this special time each Tuesday morning. After chapel, there is a break time for coffee and fellowship before students return to class.
