Understanding and Working with Eating Disorders and Pornography

The Fall Counseling Workshop will serve counselors and the church by providing an overview of both eating disorders and pornography and emphasizing how to help people experiencing these things.

Eating Disorders

Eating Disorders affect nearly 20 million women and 10 million men within their lifetime. Caroline Neumann will provide an overview of eating disorders, including diagnoses, symptoms, adaptive functions, and treatment protocol.  Attendees will gain a generalist’s perspective of eating disorders and the origins, maintenance, and severity of this illness.  This presentation will also consider the relationship between spiritual hunger and eating disorders.

Pornography

Today, 25% of all internet searches are related to pornography. Branden Henry will focus on the culture of pornography, its effects, and its treatment. Attendees will also learn about the continuum of addiction and how to best help those who are ensnared by it, both inside and outside of the church.
