Online Certificates FAQs

Do I need to know Greek or Hebrew before taking the language certificates?

No prior knowledge is required. Both the Greek and Hebrew certificates begin with introductory courses (Greek 1 or Hebrew 1) and build progressively toward exegesis-level study. You’ll learn grammar, vocabulary, syntax, and translation skills step-by-step.

Can I take these certificates while working full-time?

Yes! Each course is structured for maximum flexibility, typically running 12 weeks or less and completed at your own pace. Many students complete coursework alongside full-time work or ministry.

How are online certificate courses delivered?

Courses are offered fully online, with the option for residential participation in some cases. You’ll use the RTS learning management system (Canvas) for video lectures, readings, discussion forums, and assignment submissions.

Will I interact with professors in online courses?

Yes! Each online course includes a professor of record and a teaching assistant (TA). Professors grade assignments and provide direct interaction, while TAs assist with communication, logistics, and student support.

Do these certificates count toward a degree if I enroll in one later?

In many cases, yes. Some or all credits from online certificates may apply toward RTS master’s degrees (like the MABS or MATS), depending on the campus and program. Contact admissions for details about how your certificate credits can transfer.
