About Dr. Silvernail

Dr. David V. Silvernail, Jr. earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis (May 2006). His doctoral dissertation was entitled, “The Preaching Practices of Evangelical Pastors in the Newer Churches of Loudoun County, Virginia.” Dave received his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from American University in Washington, DC. Before entering seminary, he served as an infantry officer in the United States Army, first on active duty and then in the Army Reserve.

Dave was the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Enterprise, Alabama. In 1997, Dave and his wife, Joanna, moved to Virginia and settled in Leesburg where he has served as Senior Pastor of Potomac Hills Presbyterian Church (PCA) for 22 years. Dave has brought his gift of relevant, grace-filled, in-depth expository preaching to Potomac Hills. He also brings a wealth of practical knowledge of congregational life, that serves our RTS students well.

Dr. Silvernail has been married to Joanne for over 36 years now and they love being grandparents! “We have five truly amazing children and nine wonderful grandchildren.  We also have a sweet black & white dog named Flo.” He’s also a huge baseball fan (Go Red Sox!).
