Job Description:

Purpose: To provide leadership to the youth ministry of the Church serving youth, grades 6 through 12.

Youth Ministry Purpose: 

Youth fellowship exists to communicate God’s love to others, to connect with fellow Christians, to help grow in faith, to experience helping others, and to rejoice in the presence of God. “Without vision the people will be lost.” Proverbs 29:18


1) Preparation: 

  1. Personal devotion: maintain a mature, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, showing continuing spiritual growth, moral and emotional strength, and dedication to Scripture.
  2. Study: continuous education and personal study in topics related to the position. Maintain a fresh, innovative perspective and continually improve upon ministry to the youth.

2) Essentials functions: 

  1. Provide spiritual and practical guidance to youth group leaders in the facilitation of spiritual growth and maturing of youth.
  2. Lead, recruit and develop a youth leadership team.
  3. Conduct midweek outreach to build personal relationships with the youth in middle and high school.
  4. Conduct oneself in a manner that demonstrates the love of Christ and models Christ-like attitudes and behaviors.
  5. Plan and implement with the support team and oversee weekly group fellowship for middle and high school students.
  6. Organize and participate in weekend fellowship trips and summer retreats (one week each for the middle and high school), such as: Cedar Kirk, Rock the Universe, Montreat, 30 Hour Famine, etc.
  7. Provide opportunities for youth to participate in mission work and service to one another as assigned.
  8. Attend all weekly Church staff meetings, CE meetings, and any youth ministry meetings.
  9. Facilitate and conduct on-going communication with families regarding family care issues.
  10. Fulfill, with support of the leadership team, general administrative duties related to youth ministries, i.e. communication, Newsletter, registrations, mailings, etc.
  11. Assist with the Sunday School program (K-5 Sunday School Program) to establish a relational foundation with the families of young children.
