Job Description:

The Youth Ministry Director is responsible for the creation and supervision of the Youth Programs of Providence Presbyterian Church (PPC), in support of its mission of advancing the Kingdom of Christ. Youth Programs are defined as Junior High through Senior High School. This position is specifically responsible for all aspects of the Jr. and Sr. High Programs including oversight of staff and volunteers. The Youth Ministry Director will also have input into the Children’s Programs (Kindergarten through 5th grade). The Youth Ministry Director will be able to articulate the spiritual vision of the church, and will work with the Session, other PPC leaders and parents to provide loving servant leadership to the youth and their families entrusted to him by God. He will have a high regard and understanding of scripture that supports and reflects our doctrinal standards to effectively share the Gospel with the unsaved, and to disciple and equip our youth in the Christian faith as opportunities arise.
The Youth Ministry Director is accountable to God through the Session of Providence Presbyterian Church.

Youth Program Assistant(s) and volunteer(s).
Position Responsibilities:
1. Develop a comprehensive, integrated and holistic youth program (Jr
High and Sr. High) for PPC that aligns with the church’s vision. This
would include a strategy to minister to parents of the youth to include
effective, regular communications with all parents. Regular scheduled
meetings with parents are necessary to continually disciple the youth and
their families.
2. Disciple the Youth of PPC. Visit youth in their homes, schools and at
extra-curricular events. Initiate and develop relationships with students
where the Gospel can be shared and applied to the student’s lives.
3. Lead and oversee the Jr. and Sr. High Programs, including the Sunday
School classes. Provide ongoing assistance to through those who teach the
classes, including all volunteers and assistants. .
4. Coordinate Mission Trips, Outreach, and Retreats for Jr. and Sr. High.
Create opportunities for the youth to engage in worship, fellowship and
service with the larger PPC community.
5. Ensure accurate record keeping and expense budget management. Raise
funds as necessary.
6. Assist the Pastoral staff with visitation ministry to youth families.
7. Serve as a member of the Christian Education Committee.
8. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Session.
Working Conditions:
While this is a full time, forty (40) hour per week position, to successfully perform
the essential functions of this job the Youth Ministry Director will be expected to
work outside of the normal work day. Weekend work is typical and availability is
expected for evenings events and weekends church services and Sunday School. It
is expected that the Youth Ministry Director will attend and worship at Providence
Presbyterian Church. This position will also require travel within the greater
Salisbury community and outlying areas to visit youth, schools and their families.

Position Qualifications:

1. He will have an active relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and maintain a Profession of Faith consistent with the doctrine of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA).
2. Supports the mission and vision of PPC.
3. While not requiring ordination as presently constituted, to support the development of the individual and the future growth of the ministry candidates must demonstrate the ability to meet the basic requirements for ordination within the PCA.
4. Has passion, desire and demonstrated aptitude to work with youth, especially those of Jr. and Sr. High School age.
5. Has Spiritual maturity as well as leadership qualities to lead the youth staff and volunteer assistants.
6. Holds a realistic view of sin’s power and its dynamic at work in the youth and their families. Has a philosophy of a ministry of redemption that seeks to avoid the dangers of moralism, while spurring the students to a life of godliness and a love for the Lord Jesus.
7. Demonstrated experience with youth ministry, including some formal training.
8. Will be required to obtain certification in Child safety laws.
9. Has organizational, administrative and communication skills, including event planning and execution, managing a program expense budget, maintaining accurate attendance and program records, and program communication.
