Job Overview
The Student Ministry Coordinator will assist the Director of Student Ministry in leading students
to gather for worship, connect relationally, and serve the community.
Responsibilities
Student Relationships
- Pursuing relationships with students through relational ministry such as meals and extracurricular activities.
- Promoting the mission and vision of Orangewood by encouraging students to gather for worship, connect in community, and serve.
- Developing meaningful relationships and a sense of community amongst students, seeking to foster an environment where all feel welcome and wanted.
- Discipling students relationally, speaking truth winsomely into their lives and teaching them to glorify God and enjoy him in all 168 hours each week.
- Sharing in teaching responsibilities for student ministry in large and small group settings.
- Interacting with students on the Orangewood Christian School campus and partnering with the school in discipleship as appropriate.
Leadership
- Assisting the Director of Student Ministry in the planning and execution of weekly student programming, special events, and trips in alignment with Orangewood’s mission.
- Actively participating in Orangewood staff meetings and church membership.
- Assisting the Director of Student Ministry in leading a team of adult and student volunteers.
- Assisting the Director of Student Ministry in effectively communicating with parents and students through various means including social media.
- Building relationships with parents alongside their students, understanding that ministry to students also involves ministry to parents.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous experience working with students in a ministry setting
- A growing commitment to Jesus Christ and love for their Church
- Commitment to Reformed understanding of faith
- Teachability and ability to be self-motivated
- Humility, self-awareness, and ability to ask for help from God and others
- A desire to work with students
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
- Ability to have an adaptive work schedule in order to engage with students
- Ability and willingness to travel for retreats, camps, mission trips, etc.
