SUMMARY
Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church (EHPC) is prayerfully seeking a full-time pastor who is called by God and equipped to effectively preach and teach the Word of God. EHPC is a member of the Vanguard Presbyterian Church and adheres to the teachings of the Westminster Confession of Faith.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pastor shall preach the Gospel regularly and shall be at liberty to preach the whole counsel of the Word of God as the Lord leads him. He shall ensure the Word of God is preached with urgency and conviction, bringing it to bear on the changing needs of individuals, the community, and the world. High priority of the pastor’s time will be placed on sermon preparation. He shall administer the sacraments of the Church, act as a moderator at all Church meetings for the transaction of Church matters, supervise the teaching ministries of the Church, and tenderly watch over the spiritual interests of the membership. The Pastor shares members’ struggles regarding the Christian faith, with opportunity provided for individuals and groups to reflect on beliefs, concerns, and doubts regarding Christian understanding of the spiritual dimensions of life.
The Pastor and Session work to develop a rich worship life, educating the congregation for meaningful participation. Pastor accepts appropriate administrative responsibilities, in climate of delegated tasks and shared leadership; volunteers and professional staff encouraged to use their ideas and skills. In his absence, he will be responsible for securing pulpit supply. The Pastor shall ensure all Church matters are conducted in accordance with The Book of Church Order of Vanguard Presbytery.
Position Qualifications:
Must be able to fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation through visitations, prayer, conducting weddings, funerals and administering the sacraments of the church. The candidate must also possess the biblical and spiritual qualities as outlined in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Qualified candidates will possess a Masters of Divinity from an accredited seminary, or equivalent coursework, and have 5-10 years of ministry experience. Experience in counseling, leadership training, and church administration are preferred.

About Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church:
Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church, founded in 1974 and located in the town of Bristol, Tennessee, is in search of a Senior Pastor to lead our multi-generational congregation. The church is tucked away in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee where the city sits in the two different states of Tennessee and Virginia. We are members of the Vanguard Presbytery Church and adhere to the teachings of the Westminster Confession of Faith. On average, our Sunday morning Worship Service consists of 210 in attendance. We have been blessed with the sound doctrine from our current Pastor, Dr. Rick Light for the past 37 years. We are preparing for his upcoming retirement and as we transition to a new leader for our congregation. We pray for a candidate that is up to the task to abide by our church mission and disciple as the Lord tells us to (Matthew 28: 18-20):
Go-meaning intentionally, locally, regionally, and globally,
Baptize- which assumes bringing in a harvest of souls through evangelistic work, and
Teach- our people to observe all He has commanded us, bringing them to spiritual maturity.
