Senior Pastor
Job Description:
The Senior Pastor, as the chief administrative officer of the church, shall administer the total program of the church, implement the policies of the Session (Church Elders), and supervise the staff. Here are core commitments required of the Senior Pastor:
- To believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired Word of God, the authority for faith and practice.
- To remain faithful to the call to the ministry from love of God and neighbor with a sincere desire to glorify God and advance His Kingdom in the world.
- To be zealous and faithful, as God enables, in maintaining the truths of the gospel and the purity and peace of the church, irrespective of any opposition that may arise.
- To be faithful and diligent as a Christian and a minister of the gospel, and to endeavor in public and private not to give offense to Christ and His church.

Biblical Preaching
Seeks to “rightly divide the Word of Truth” affirming the Bible’s “authority for faith and practice” applying the “whole counsel of God” as found in the Holy Scriptures.
Affirms historical orthodoxy to the application of the Bible for daily life without accommodation to current ideologies or cultural mores.
Practical Focus
Commits to provide relevant “life lesson” application of historic Biblical truth through worship, preaching, teaching, and discipleship programs for persons of all ages and stages.
Cultural Issues
Affirms the view of marriage, gender, and identity consistently presented in the Bible and the 1813, 1883, and 1984 Confessions of Faith of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and aligns with the Cumberland Presbyterian position on Human Sexuality (adopted in 1996).

The Senior Pastor must adopt and abide by the requirements of duly ordained ministers in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church contained in The Confession of Faith and Government of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church:
- To receive and adopt the Confession of Faith of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church as containing the essential doctrines taught in the Holy Scriptures.
- To approve of and uphold the government of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
- To participate as a minister in the judicatories of the church, promising to share in a responsible way in the decisions that are made, to abide by those decisions, and to promote the welfare of the church.
