Job Description:

The Senior Pastor works closely with the Session to establish and communicate the vision of the church, to grow in size and impact as God leads and to provide primary pastoral care and leadership.  In addition, the Senior Pastor is responsible for preaching & teaching the Word of God, leadership development and pastoral care.

 

We are seeking a Senior Pastor who possesses strong leadership skills that will provide our church the vision for the future to grow in size and impact as God leads.  He will recruit, train, disciple, and lead staff and other leaders.  He will serve as the head of worship and oversee a vibrant, engaging contemporary-blended worship service.  He will demonstrate a passion for God’s Word that enables listeners to hear the gospel message and respond to God’s calling for transformational living.  He must have a grace-shaped life that loves God’s people and the community we live in.  He will prioritize CGC’s needs I counsel with the Session and design, lead, and train leaders as needed for such areas as small groups, men’s and women’s groups, outreach, and short-term missions.  He will possess the skills and experience to lead CGC as a community-oriented church in NW Greensboro.  As we welcome new attendees to our church, he will help us develop creative ways to attract and enfold then as part of the flock.

The Candidate for Senior Pastor must have requisite ministerial experience preparing them for service as the leader of the staff and it is recommended that the candidate be a graduate of an accredited seminary.  The Senior Pastor should be approachable and personable to the congregation and community.  Candidates must affirm the theological convictions of the PCA and CGC and meet the Biblical requirements of an elder.

Character

 Candidates will be required to demonstrate excellence in areas concerning their family stewardship, discipleship, love and submission for others, honesty and integrity, and confidentiality.

Competencies

Candidates must display competency in their passion for the gospel, discipleship, teaching, leadership, administration, and counseling, along with other requisite skills as deemed necessary by the Session.  The Senior Pastor is expected to set yearly goals based on the vision and core values of CGC.

Position Qualifications:

CGC is looking for candidates who are reformed, have held lead pastor positions or 8+ years of relevant ministry experience, and have a degree from an accredited seminary, and fulfills all the necessary qualifications of a PCA ordained Pastor.

Covenant Grace Church began worshiping together in 2009 as The Kirk, a non-denominational church body located at the Spears YMCA. We recently joined the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) in 2017. During our pastoral transition in 2018, the Lord provided us with a new location for worship and ministry in NW Greensboro. CGC is a community of diverse socioeconomic status and age.  CGC is a community-oriented church engaged in a contemporary-blended worship service with average attendance of 45-55 and consists primarily of families ages 35-65; however, we desire to reach younger families.
