Ministry Intern

Job Description:

The primary purpose of the internship is to support the Youth Ministry of Orlando Korean Presbyterian Church in America (OKPCA) and to provide a learning opportunity through its ministry. Guided by the pastors, the internship seeks to enable interns to:

  • Work in an environment of personal and professional guidance and support
  • Explore their vocational call
  • Apply knowledge gained through study to service in the church
  • Develop their gifts and skills for ministry
  • Gain practical ministry training and experience

The intern will be primarily working under the English Ministry and Education Ministry Pastor, while maintaining good relations with OKPCA’s Session and abiding its bylaws. The ideal candidate for this role will commit 10-12 hours per week to do the following:

  • Cultivate a Youth Ministry that brings glory to God by living for Christ in all aspects of their lives
  • Prepare, organize and lead 6th to 12th grade Biblical education and engagement, during the regular academic year, in the form of (but not limited to):
    • Weekly Friday meetings
    • Monthly Friday praise nights
    • Occasional fellowship events
  • Participate in youth-related activities (e.g., lock-ins, retreats)
  • Build relationships with the youth, parents, and church body so that they feel encouraged to lead, support and/or participate in Youth Ministry efforts and activities, such as discipleship, youth praise team, volunteering, and the like
  • Attend regular meetings with the Education Ministry Pastor
  • Work with the English Ministry Pastor in the following (but not limited) ways:
    • Assist in the English Ministry Sunday worship services
    • Preach bi-monthly upon the discretion and approval of OKPCA’s Session
    • Social Media Management for the English Ministry and Youth Ministry
  • Flexible in whatever circumstances for the health and good of Christ’s Church
  • Maintain personal, spiritual, and professional growth
  • Other duties and ministries as opportunity and gifts allow

Accountability:

  • The Ministry Intern is directly accountable to the English Ministry and Education Ministry Pastor
  • The English Ministry and Education Ministry Pastor is directly accountable to the Session (Board of Elders)
  • The Ministry Intern can contact the Session directly, if necessary

Position Qualifications:

The internship is designed for a current seminary student in training for a lifetime of ordained ministry.
