Intown Community School

Meet Intown Community School:

Intown Community School is a K-8 school that began in the fall of 1987 when a small group of Christian educators and parents had a big vision to begin a covenant school inside the perimeter of Atlanta. They had no headmaster and no building, but they did have a dependence on God. His provision came from places where they had no influence, so Intown Community School is clearly God’s work. The first class consisted of twelve students in first, second, and third grades. Although the school began as a ministry of Intown Community Church, it now includes students from more than forty Atlanta area churches united in the desire to be a life-long learning community that emphasizes ideas over information.

In 2013, Intown Community School became a separate 501(c)3 from Intown Community Church. The school has an ongoing long-term lease for a beautiful facility and grounds on Lavista Road inside the Atlanta perimeter and continues in the policy governance Board model. Intown Community School is a member of ChildLight Schools, an association of schools providing a Charlotte Mason education to thousands of children around the US and beyond.

ICS recognizes that all of life and learning is accomplished within the broader context of God’s Truth. As a covenant community, the school believes parents are the primary educators of children, and it is the school’s calling to come alongside parents in raising life-long learners.

Current families travel from many Atlanta area zip codes to gain an Intown Community School education to prepare their children for success in their further studies and in life. All glory to God for the blessing that Intown Community School has been in the lives of many families.

What it's Like to Live in Atlanta, Georgia:

Intown Community School is located in a vibrant, culturally diverse, in-town area of Atlanta. It is "inside the perimeter" - 15 minutes from midtown, downtown, Buckhead, Decatur, and more. The school is only five minutes from Emory University and the CDC. World-class restaurants and hospitals are nearby. There is an abundance of terrific public and private schooling options. Atlanta has been described as a city within a forest, and that often appears to be true. It's a beautiful, green metropolis with numerous recreational options and four distinct seasons of weather (including mild winters). If you're a sports fan, Atlanta is the capital of college football and has professional baseball, football, basketball, and soccer franchises.
