This 10th-grade course in Geometry meets for 1 hour each M/W/F from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Students are taught from a Geometry textbook (see syllabus link below) and are assigned homework to be done in-between each class meeting. Teacher is expected to collect and grade homework regularly, administer and grade quizzes and tests, respond to student/parent inquiries, and complete quarterly grade reports. On average, teachers will spend 3 hours per week teaching and 6 hours per week preparing/grading/communicating. Position pays $6,000 per school year, which runs for 32 weeks, from late August through mid-May.
Current Course Syllabus:
Applicants need not have formal teaching certification or classical education training. Rather, qualified applicants will exhibit demonstrated excellence in teaching, a thorough knowledge of Geometry and passion for the subject, a clear Christian commitment and walk with the Lord, and a dedication to caring for students (with a verifiable track record of such). More than many other subjects, Geometry requires a teacher who can communicate clearly and help students to grow in their understanding and ability to think and reason correctly. In particular, a qualified teacher of Geometry will be able to explain ideas in a variety of ways, helping students to progress, regardless of their abilities or background.
