Full-Time Assistant Librarian

Job Description:

The full-time Assistant Librarian position assists the Library Director in managing the operations of the circulation desk, including student worker scheduling and training, and the review and evaluation of related library policies. The position also functions as the student worker manager in compiling, reviewing, and submitting the student worker monthly time sheets. This position also manages the library’s office supply inventory, and assists the Library Director in executing support services such as material inventory, digitization projects, collecting and processing reserve readings, copy key readings, and providing circulation and reference services.

This full-time position reports to and assists the Library Director in the following primary tasks:

  • Maintain and update circulation information in the library’s TLC Library Solution ILS.
  • Select, manage, and schedule student workers throughout each semester.
  • Train student workers on the library’s circulation policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate support services performed by student workers throughout the semester.
  • Cover the circulation desk as needed. Sort and shelve library materials as needed.
  • Identify and process reserve readings from semester to semester.
  • Manage the materials and supplies ordering.
  • Provide reference services to library patrons.

Position Qualifications:

  • College graduate.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Adobe FormsCentral.
  • Excellent organizational and bookkeeping skills.
  • Ability to design and provide instructional modules.
  • Ability to coordinate staff scheduling and time sheets.
  • Ability to work nights and Saturdays as needed.

Preferences

  • Seminary degree from an ATS accredited graduate school.
  • MLS from an ALA accredited graduate school.
  • Previous professional library experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
