 Job Summary:

As a senior member of our leadership team, the Director of Worship will musically shepherd this loving faith community at Northside Baptist Church; guiding, evangelizing, and discipling to people in order that they might grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. While being grounded and rooted in Christ, this role will strive to glorify the Lord, proclaiming the gospel through God-honoring and scripturally sound worship. 


Reporting to: Senior Pastor

Positions Supervised: Lay Leaders and Interns 

Job Description (80% of commitment):

Assembling a worship team, composed of 3-10 musicians (Instrumentalist + Vocalists) across a variety of demographics to create a vibrant worship experience

• Collaborating with Senior Pastor in preparing worship sets in alignment with church schedule, selecting music that is biblically and theologically sound 

Creating weekly schedules for the worship team; organizing & overseeing rehearsals

Sending out music proactively to the worship team members and congregation

• Humbly seeking feedback from the worship team, pastors, and members of the church for improving church services

Developing new musicians and teams from within the church body, while also being connected within the local community to grow the church musically

Assisting in planning, implementing and/or leading worship for special events outside of Sunday worship services (ex. weddings, funerals), depending on availability

• Being or becoming proficient in utilizing and recommending worship software (ProPresenter, Planning Center, Click Tracks, etc.)

Training up and overseeing the development of service support team with Audio, Visual, Streaming and lighting

• Holistic leadership of the Sunday morning experience in areas such as greeting oversight, order-of-service including announcements, offertory and closing prayers, scripture readings, testimonies, and use of lay member support.

Administrative Duties (20% of commitment):

• Financial management of appropriate line items on the budget balance sheet

• Develop and maintain effective communication strategies for worship team, and the congregational body

• Active participation and/or leading in weekly staff meetings and in worship service(s)

Position Qualifications:


• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and demonstrates a maturing relationship with Him through spiritual disciplines 

• Evidence of a faithful pursuit of growing in personal leadership characteristics, noted in 1 Tim. 3

• Creative and musically gifted with ability to read and understand music

• Proficiency in leading worship with a strong vocal ability; Capability of leading with a guitar and/or keyboard is a plus, but not a requirement; Ability to lead with various instrument accompaniment is necessary

• Experienced in musically leading worship and exhibited musical dexterity in a blended setting preferred; skillfully able to mix contemporary and hymns in modern styling

• A disciple maker with an authentic relational style of leadership and ministry

• Commitment to a team approach to ministry

• Able to work without direct supervision

• General availability to Senior Pastor and worship volunteers

• GED or High School Diploma required; post-secondary education preferred
