The individual we seek will inspire from the pulpit and communicate God’s word through clear and consistent sermons and Bible study. He/she will consider God’s word the ultimate authority, and teach concepts, facts and theology in his/her lessons. He/she will be a leader of the congregation in collaboration with our pastor and committee leaders in order to achieve desired goals. He/she will administer love and care to our elderly. We have healthy, growing programs for children of elementary and middle-school ages, and a new active class for young adults. We want the enthusiasm in all these areas to continue; with strategy and vision, he/she will direct the Church in current programs and missions, as well as suggesting other ways in which we can serve our church, our community and beyond.
We want a leader with spiritual maturity who has the gift of preaching, who places a high value on a traditional interpretation of scripture, a worship leader who is compassionate and able to offer advice and direction to those in need. We want a leader who has energy and enthusiasm to teach God’s word in an effective manner. We want a partner to share our walk through this life, and who will guide members of First Presbyterian Church in new and exciting ways to serve the Lord. This position of Co-Pastor is unique to our previous search for pastoral care. We feel that in the past year, we have made some strides in new programming, and that we have somewhat of a “momentum” going. Our current minister is of retirement age. He has carried a tremendous work load, and this is our attempt to lessen his burden. In doing so, we feel we would also be reaching out in ministries and programs that appeal to a younger demographic that is difficult for our pastor to reach. Also, it would allow us not only to fulfill the needs of current membership, but also grow our church with fresh ideas and new programs. This would ensure a seamless transition upon our pastor’s retirement, thus allowing the co-pastor to step into sole leadership.
