Assistant Pastor of Congregational Care and Discipleship: Westminster Presbyterian Church
Job Description:
The Assistant Pastor will strengthen and expand Westminster’s shepherding ministry by leading
systems of pastoral care and community-based discipleship. In close partnership with the Senior
Minister, pastoral staff, elders, and lay leaders, this pastor will provide oversight, teaching, pastoral
care, and staff leadership that fosters spiritual growth and a Christ-centered community. This
position will also play a key role in weekly worship leadership and will regularly preach the Word in
an expository manner, teach Sunday school classes and assist with Wednesday night adult education.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and develop systems for shepherding ministry and community discipleship.
• Preach and teach, serving as a key member of the Sunday evening preaching team (frequency TBD).
• Lead corporate worship weekly on Sunday mornings and regularly on Sunday evenings.
• Equip elders and lay leaders for effective shepherding, discipleship, and care.
• Provide pastoral care through counseling, visitation (seniors, shut-ins, hospitals), and crisis care
in collaboration with the pastoral team.
• Supervise and support non-ordained ministry staff.
• Foster a culture of care, accountability, and gospel-centered community throughout the
congregation.
Position Qualifications:
• Ordained (or ordainable) in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
• Demonstrates a life of consistent godliness as embodied in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 2 Timothy 3:16-17,
and Titus 1:5-9.
• Robust and joyful commitment to the Westminster Standards and the sufficiency of Ordinary
Means of Grace ministry.
• Demonstrated pastoral experience in shepherding, teaching, counseling, and discipleship
leadership.
• Proven ability to train, mentor, and equip leaders with humility and wisdom.
• Excellent in expository preaching and theological instruction.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
