Area Ministry Director – NY/NJ
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate & Faculty Ministries (GFM) seeks an Area Director to lead a diverse and growing team serving graduate students and faculty in New York and New Jersey.
Located in one of the most university dense regions in the country, New York and New Jersey have 21 Research 1 and Research 2 Universities. The current ministry consists of 14 GFM staff and volunteers, and 18 chapters (PhD, Law, MBA, Healthcare, Faculty, etc.) on 9 campuses. There is significant opportunity for growth and creativity.

The ideal candidate has previous supervisory or team leader experience, can build and lead healthy teams, has strong people skills, and enjoys working with a diverse and committed group of staff and volunteers. This person must be able to clearly articulate a vision for planting and growing witnessing communities of graduate students and faculty which draws in ministry partners, potential GFM staff, and missional students and faculty leaders. Theological education and/or advanced degrees are considered an asset.
This GFM Area Director will regularly gather the team, supervise campus ministry staff, create and implement Area-wide programs, and raise personal and ministry funds. The GFM Area Director will provide leadership to plant ministry on new campuses and develop the ministry on existing campuses, advancing InterVarsity’s mission through clear goals and objectives.

InterVarsity’s Graduate & Faculty Ministries (GFM) works with graduate student chapters and/or faculty communities. Campus Staff Ministers are assigned to one or more campuses. We are hiring women and men who love the university, its ideas and people, value the life of the mind, care about leading a life which integrates studies, work and faith, and are willing to raise money from donors.
