2-Year College Ministry Intern

Job Description:

Our two-year college internship program is an opportunity for college graduates who are considering full-time ministry. The internship program will provide extensive exposure to college ministry including teaching, leading community groups, trip planning, events, and programs, and engaging in intentional relationships with college students. There is also a reading program for the college interns to participate throughout the internship.

Currently, Thrive is hiring two, two-year college ministry interns (one male and one female) beginning in August 2021. The conclusion of the internship will be August 2023.

Responsibilities

Ministry

  • Pursue personal spiritual growth
  • Participate in Student Leadership Team development by assisting and training and developing the team
  • Recruit and oversee a team of 4-5 post-college lay leaders to lead community groups
  • Participate in the planning, leading and evaluation of assigned college ministry events including weekly large group meetings, community groups, special events, worship nights, camps, conferences, retreats, mission trips, etc
  • Participate in intentional relational ministry (contact work) with college students; spend time with students outside of TCM programs and events; visit students on their own turf (i.e., campus, sporting events, home, etc.); take students on road trips, camping, or other informal (“organic”) events; pursue lost students as well as those who know the Lord

Administrative

  • Actively maintain your ministry support account and keep ministry partners updated though regular newsletter communications
  • Attend and participate in weekly TCM Staff Meetings
  • Attend and participate in bi-montly Thrive all-staff meetings at Thrive Central Office

Personal Conduct

  • Abide by the Thrive Employee Covenant at all times
  • Participating in a daily devotional time in the Word
  • Maintaining a character consistent with Biblical standards for those in leadership
  • Attending and participating in the life and body of a local, bible-believing church

Timing

  • Applications are due May 31st with interviews and a decisions to follow
  • 2-year internship will begin August 1, 2021 and end July 31, 2023

Funding & Benefits

  • Base Salary of $15k gross per year
  • Intern will support raise up to an additional $15K per year.
  • 50% of ministry support ($7.5K) must be raised before beginning ministry work. If support account dips into account warning, fundraising will become priority over campus work
  • 7 days of PTO (vacation, sick day, personal days off) first year, 10 days second year
  • Optional enrollment in Thrive’s 401K with 3% Thrive match
  • Optional enrollment in Thrive Healthcare Benefits Package
  • Optional enrollment in Thrive Residency’s graduate level courses with up to 18hrs of transferable credits

  • Maintain a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus, actively engaged in the means of grace
  • Strong agreement with Thrive’s Statement of Faith
  • Have a genuine love for college-aged students and the ability to relate with college students of different backgrounds
  • Practice a gospel-centered and grace-enriched relational philosophy of ministry
  • Possess a call to teach college students biblical truth and examine issues through the lens of scripture
  • Humble, teachable, and servant-hearted
  • Eager to recruit, support, and lead a student leadership team
  • Hold a bachelor degree
  • Proficient social media and computer skills
  • Must pass a background check, have a good driving record, and have reliable vehicle
