SUMMARY:African Transformational Leadership Ministry Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Dr. Robert Kamau\, founder of African Transformational Leadership\, will be speaking during the lunch after chapel in Patterson’s Porch on Wednesday\, September 18. \nDr. Kamau is a Kenyan-born scholar\, a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry graduate from Piedmont International University. He is an ordained minister and a respected elder in the church in Kenya. He is married to Alice\, and the couple has two biological boys (Kelvin\, 26\, and Roy\, 23)\, and an adopted girl (15). Dr. Kamau left his wife and two boys in Kenya and came to RTS to study so that he could make a difference in the church in Africa. Upon graduating from RTS\, Dr. Kamau returned to Kenya and started a ministry called African Transformational Leadership (ATL) to train pastors who oversee congregations but have never had any formal training. He has traveled to over 20 countries in Africa\, training pastors to teach and preach the word of God correctly. \nMany of the pastors in Africa assume their roles in their local churches with qualifications such as: \n\npossessing the ability to read\nhaving been a Christian longer than the rest of the congregation\nsimply owning a Bible\, enabling the individual to read it to the people in the church\n\nRobert understands the real needs of the African church. His vision for ATL is to add to the quality and the already dynamic growth of the African Church by providing Christian Biblical leadership skills\, and equipping economically disadvantaged and untrained pastors to lead their congregations in a godly way. \nTo date ATL has trained 1\,089 pastors across Africa. Dr. Kamau and ATL thank God for including them in the journey of spreading the gospel for the good of others and the glory of God. Robert is excited for the opportunity to talk to the RTS community about the role of Seminary and Bibles schools in the church of Jesus Christ in Africa and around the world! Come on out if you are interested in learning more about this ministry! \n
