The MFTC Program will conduct a training program this fall for MDIV and MFTC students to learn to counsel couples. - Jackson Campus

Learn to counsel couples.
Learn what damages couples and how to help them change.

Pastors counsel couples! Here is a chance to gain effective skills for your ministry.
Ephesians 4:28 and 29 tells us to move away from destructive words to constructive words and useful behaviors that will build others up. John Gottman is an orthodox Jew who has spent the last 40 years researching what is destructive or constructive for marriages. Indeed, the set of (godly) ways of interacting he has identified predict with over 90% accuracy whether a marriage will be a continuing satisfying relationship or whether it will fail. His findings can help pastors focus couples on crucial areas and promote godly change in them.

The MFTC program will conduct a training program this fall for MDIV and MFTC students to teach them about John Gottman's findings and methods.  The training includes 12 hours of video, discussion and a 300 page manual for each participant. Although the training normally costs about $250, it is available to RTS students, faculty and alumni for $99 (60% discount). Training will happen over two Fridays: September 11, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM; September 25, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Sign up deadline is September 1.
For more information, contact Michael Hillerman (601-923-1630) or Dr. Hurley (601-316-7389).
