Reforming the Care of Souls

Dr. Jonathan Linebaugh will present a lecture entitled “Reforming the Care of Souls” that looks at the ways in which Martin Luther, Thomas Cranmer, and the Puritans sought to recast the regular rhythms of pastoral care with a renewed evangelical orientation. A time of discussion will follow the lecture.

The lecture will be held 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 in the Reformation Chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. Directions may be found here, and free parking (when ticket is validated at the church’s front desk) can be found here. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Linebaugh serves as Lecturer in New Testament at the University of Cambridge, where he teaches courses on New Testament texts and their history of interpretation. He previously taught for several years at Knox Theological Seminary and has served as guest faculty at Reformed Theological Seminary. He is author of numerous essays and a book, God, Grace, and Righteousness: Wisdom of Solomon and Paul’s Letter to the Romans in Conversation. With Michael Allen of RTS, he edited Reformation Readings of Paul: Explorations in History and Exegesis. Further information regarding his scholarly work can be found here

This will be the third in a series of Summer Reformation Lectures presented by Reformed Theological Seminary in this year where we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. For more events marking the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, see this link
