Statism and the New Road to Serfdom
Dr. Mike Milton, Chancellor and CEO of RTS will be joining The President's Forum on November 7, 12 noon, in the Fellowship Hall. Dr. Sweeting and Dr. Milton will be discussing "Statism and the New Road to Serfdom," the theme of Milton's latest book, Silent No More: The Biblical Call to the Church to Speak to the State and Culture.
Throughout history, one of the great rivals to the people of God has been the state—especially states that assume god-like authority over our lives or make god-like claims of authority. The state is supposed to be a “servant of God,” but it often drifts into something else. As the western world moves away from Christianity’s influence, we are seeing both the growth of the state and rival claims of the state. Where will it all go? And what is the role of the church in speaking out when the state defies God?
