What’s new at RTS/Houston? Here are some exciting updates!
Most recently, SACS and ATS have both accredited the Houston campus to teach and grant over 50% of the MABS degree. With this news, we continue to add more classes. We now offer four classes in the fall and spring and two in the summer. Next fall (2014) we will offer five classes. In 2014 we will offer two of our classes at night. And, we are thrilled that Reformed pastor, Dr. Voddie Baucham, will teach a preaching elective for us in the fall of 2014!
I would also like to give a shout out to some of our partnering churches in the Houston area. They are truly a blessing to RTS/Houston. Christ The King Presbyterian Church in Houston is now partnering with us to provide seminary education for interns from Monterrey, so they will be able to plant more Reformed Hispanic churches along the border when they graduate. Also, Christ Church in Katy, Texas, pastored by RTS alumnus, Rev. Fred Grecco (M.Div. ’06), graciously lends us their associate pastor, Dr. Duncan Rankin, to teach three classes a year. Also, thanks to our hosting church, Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church, we have moved into the new “Sonrise” addition they built, which provides us with the use of a 800 sq. ft. library, a 200 seat chapel, four state of the art classrooms with smartboard projectors, and four offices.
With these new facilities, we are working with RTS’ head librarian to organize and bring online the new RTS Houston library. We added our first student work scholarship recipient who will focus primarily on the needs of our library.
In technical news – RTS/Houston will soon have its own T-1 data line with a telephone system that ties us in with all of the other RTS campuses.
RTS Houston continues to grow! We could hold our first graduation in May 2015!
We covet your prayers as we look to the Lord’s leading in the continued growth of this Houston extension of RTS.
