William M. Wood appointed as Assistant Professor of Old Testament beginning January 1, 2019.

Reformed Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of William M. Wood as Assistant Professor of Old Testament at RTS Atlanta beginning January 1, 2019.

Wood earned a B.A. in History from West Texas A&M University (with a 4.0 GPA) and an M.Div. from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, where he received the Bivins Scholar Award each year. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Old Testament at Westminster in Philadelphia and is studying the use of the Old Testament in the book of Zephaniah. Wood has received the Edward J. Young Old Testament Research Fellowship each of the last two years at Westminster and has worked over the last several years as a teaching assistant to both Dr. Gregory K. Beale and Dr. Lane G. Tipton.

Dr. Guy M. Richard, Executive Director of RTS Atlanta, commented on Will’s appointment: “I am excited about having Will Wood as a part of our team here in Atlanta. Will is a bright young man with a tremendous future ahead of him. He has distinguished himself as an up-and-coming scholar with an enormous heart for ministry. He has already served in various ministry positions both inside and outside the church. In this way, Will not only embodies the RTS motto, ‘a mind for truth and a heart for God,’ but he also weds this to a thoroughgoing commitment to give his life in ministry. We look forward to having Will labor alongside us here in Atlanta for years to come.”

After his appointment, Mr. Wood had this to say: “I am excited to begin work with RTS in Atlanta as we strive to prepare our students for ministry to the glory of our Triune God, by developing in them a love for the Lord and His Word.” Will is married to Kelly, who is currently serving as a middle school Spanish teacher. They are eagerly anticipating their move to Atlanta later this Fall.

RTS Atlanta is a quickly growing campus located on 8 beautiful acres just outside of the perimeter in south Marietta. We have been training pastors, campus ministers, missionaries, educators, and church leaders for almost 20 years. We have approximately 200 students who are studying for the Master of Divinity degree, the Master of Arts degree (in Religion or Biblical Studies), and a variety of other certificates or course offerings. RTS Atlanta is also home to the new Center for the Study of the Bible and Ethnicity (CSBE), which seeks to foster an appreciation for the histories and cultures of people groups that are outside of the dominant culture and, in doing so, to provide additional training for church leaders who especially want to minister in multi-ethnic, cross-cultural, or foreign missions contexts.
