Women in Ministry

Women in Ministry (WiM) is a ministry for all women affiliated with RTS that provides fellowship, fosters connection to the broader seminary community, equips each woman to build the kingdom in her respective calling, and encourages women to live passionately in submission to Christ.

WiM provides opportunities for connection through Bible studies and process groups, retreats, seminars, and fellowship events. We encourage the wives of students to take advantage of the spouse scholarship and enroll in or audit classes as they are able. Our hope is that all women will come away from seminary having experienced meaningful relationships and spiritual growth.

Freedom in the Fishbowl: Ministry Wives Gatherings
Monday | September 12, October 10, November 14 | 7:00 - 9:00pm | Sweeting's Home

Join Christina Sweeting, Leigh Swanson, faculty wives, and student wives for an honest conversation about the blessings and challenges of being the wife of a pastor.

This fall we will be discussing how to care for women experiencing crisis. Emily Allen will walk us through strategies for listening well, speaking truth, maintaining boundaries, confidentiality, and knowing when to refer to a professional.

Emily graduated from Wheaton College with her B.A. and M.A. in Christian formation and ministry with emphases on counseling and youth. She worked for CareNet Pregnancy Services for five years in the Chicago area, leading their abstinence education program and counseling families in crisis. Emily has also served as a deacon in her local church. She is married to faculty member, Dr. Michael Allen, and has two young boys, Jackson and Will.

The Sweeting’s home is located at:
2875 Willow Bay Terrace
Casselberry, FL 32707
(to get in the gate find “Sweeting” in the gate kiosk, dial the number, and Christina will let you in)

Fall Connections Lunch
Wednesday | November 2| 12:00-1:00pm | Fellowship Hall

Join us for our fall Connections Lunch where Brandy Nicks will share “What I’ve Learned Since Seminary Graduation.”

Brandy Nicks is no stranger to RTS, having graduated in 2014 with her M.A. in Counseling. She also knows what it is like to be a seminary wife and a pastor’s wife, as her husband Mark graduated from RTS with his M.Div and M.A.C. degrees.

Brandy is currently a private practice counselor in Maitland, as well as a full-time member of the student ministry staff at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. She is passionate about theology, women in ministry, adolescents, art, cats, and baking! Brandy has been married for eight years, and she and her husband live in College Park.
