Dr. Steven Childers joined RTS in 1995 and regularly teaches practical ministry courses on evangelism, missions, theology of ministry (leadership), church planting, church renewal, and spiritual formation.
In addition to earning graduate degrees from Covenant Theological Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Dr. Childers completed the Doctor of Ministry program at RTS Orlando and has done doctoral studies in global mission at Fuller Theological Seminary’s School of World Mission. His research, curriculum writing (7 languages), and ministry has focused on Gospel-centered church planting, global missions, and spiritual formation.
Dr. Childers is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America and served as a church planter and senior pastor for churches in urban and suburban contexts for 15 years. Dr. Childers currently serves as president of Pathway Learning (formerly Global Church Advancement), an interdenominational ministry that provides online training and resources for under-served church planters, pastors and missionaries throughout the world.
Through international conferences and seminars, Dr. Childers has helped train church leaders from more than 50 countries, representing over 300 denominations and mission agencies. Students enjoy Dr. Childers' enthusiasm for Christian mission and his passionate focus on the transforming power of the gospel. Steve and his wife Becky live in Orlando, Florida, and have three adult daughters, two son-in-laws, and three grandchildren.
