Dr. Steven Childers joined RTS in 1995 and regularly teaches practical ministry courses on evangelism, missions, church planting and spiritual formation. Dr. Childers also directs the school's Doctor of Ministry program.
In addition to earning graduate degrees from Covenant Theological Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Dr. Childers completed the Doctor of Ministry program at RTS Orlando and has done doctoral studies in global mission at Fuller Theological Seminary’s School of World Mission. His research and ministry has focused on Gospel-centered church planting and global missions.
Dr. Childers is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America and served as a church planter and senior pastor for churches in urban and suburban contexts for 15 years. Dr. Childers currently serves as president of Global Church Advancement, an interdenominational ministry that provides training, consultation and resources for church planters, pastors and missionaries throughout the world. Dr. Childers frequently speaks at international conferences and has trained church leaders from more than 40 countries, representing over 120 denominations and mission agencies.
Students enjoy Dr. Childers' enthusiasm for Christian mission and his passionate focus on the transforming power of the gospel. He and his wife Becky have three daughters: Angela, Cara and Laura.
