Steve Brown and Michael Card at RTS on March 14 & 15

Don Sweeting, president of Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, invites the public to join the RTS community for two back to back President’s Community Forums next week at 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Steve Brown, RTS practical theology professor emeritus and Key Life radio personality, will be Sweeting’s guest on Wednesday, March 14 at noon. The topic is “Three Free Sins: A New Book and Thoughts on Radical Grace”. Brown’s book was recently released by Howard Books, a division of Simon and Schuster.

The book says: “After years of trying to teach people to be holy, Dr. Brown became fed up with reaching for the impossible. And so one day on his nationwide radio program, he offered the outlandish promise of three free sins. Sound too good to be true? The truth, Brown says, is that it is true.”

Get a foretaste of Brown’s message on grace at the RTS chapel service where he will be preaching at 10:00 a.m. that same day (in Pamplin Chapel on campus).

The next day Michael Card, singer/songwriter, author and theologian, will join the RTS community for the President’s Community Forum on Thursday, March 15, at noon. While the forum topic is “Christ and Creativity” and the discussion focus is on Christian music, the Bible and biblical imagination, one never knows where the president’s questions and the guest’s answers will take them. Card will end the session with one of his latest songs. His publisher has just released Mark: The Gospel of Passion book and CD.

In his early professional years, Card was known mostly as a musician (has sold more than 4 million albums and written over 19 #1 hits). But he has become a theologian and seeks to encourage his audience to join in his own journey to know and be known by God by asking questions and entering into meaningful discussion with one another. Today, the core of what binds his endeavors (writing, teaching, concerts) together is biblical community.

Several of Card’s books and his latest CD and Brown’s book, Three Free Sins, will be available in the RTS bookstore. And there may be opportunities before and after each session for the authors to sign books for guests. Go to mindandheart.com to order these books or call the RTS bookstore at 1.800.390.7426.

Join us for this stimulating and interactive time. Questions from the audience are always welcome. Lunch can be purchased for a nominal fee, or bring your own.
