RTS Professors Speaking at Acts 29 Members Conference

Several RTS professors will be speaking at the inaugural Acts 29 Members Conference in Orlando Jan. 31-Feb. 2. Acts 29 is one of the fastest growing church-planting networks in the U.S. today. Organizers expect 600 to 800 people to attend this conference, which is open to all Acts 29 pastors, church members and those in church leadership who are applying to be in the Acts 29 church network.

Dr. Steve Brown, professor emeritus of preaching and pastoral ministry at RTS Orlando and Key Life radio host, is one of 6 plenary session speakers for the three-day conference hosted at Crosspointe Church in Orlando. Other plenary speakers are: Scott Thomas, Ray Ortlund, Sam Storms, Matt Carter and Dusty Thompson.
RTS professors who will be addressing this gathering during breakout sessions are:

Dr. Don Sweeting, president of RTS Orlando and James Woodrow Hassell professor of church history, will address a group whose churches are larger (500) on “Pastoring a Family While Pastoring a Church.” Sweeting has 22 years of pastoral experience in church planting and church revitalization.

Dr. Reggie Kidd, professor of New Testament at RTS Orlando, who will lead the worship track.

Rev. Larry Kirk, adjunct professor of practical theology, will present “Leading as a Prophet”.

“I love the kingdom collaboration that is happening between RTS Orlando and the Acts 29 network,” said Chan Kilgore, who is an Acts 29 board member, lead pastor at conference host church Crosspointe and RTS Orlando student. “It is this kind of partnership that can fuel a gospel-centered movement that can transform our cities and even the world."

This conference focuses on Acts 29 lead pastors and their teams and staff members, helping to equip them to lead growing churches that can impact the world through the planting of church-planting churches.

Acts 29, founded in 1999, has grown to over 450 churches in 13 years. The network grew by more than 150 churches last year alone and projects they will add another 170 churches to their network in 2012.
