Bio

A half-century of rich missionary experience in Africa and educational leadership in six seminaries and graduate institutions preceded Dr. Norton's appointment to RTS. He was the founding director of the Doctor of Missiology program at RTS Jackson and now is Distinguished Professor of Missions at RTS Charlotte.

In 1945 he helped found the URBANA student missionary conferences. Later, he created the missions program at Trinity College/Evangelical Divinity School and was the president of TEDS from 1957-1964. He went on to establish the missions program in the Wheaton College Graduate School in 1965 and served as dean from 1972-1980. In addition, he was instrumental in the establishment of several international seminaries.
