Bio

An Ulster-Scot, Leslie grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and committed his life to Christ soon after arriving in the United States as a new immigrant. Almost immediately, he sensed his call to pastor and preach.

He holds his BA degree in psychology from the University of Mobile, his MDiv from RTS Jackson, and his doctorate from Columbia Theological Seminary. He also has an honorary doctor of laws degree from Grove City College. His post-doctoral studies in preaching have taken him to the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Cambridge University in the UK.

In addition to pastoring churches from 60 to 4,300 members, he has spoken, taught, and presented at preaching conferences on university campuses and churches on six continents. Former United States Senate Chaplain, Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie has called him "One of America's foremost scholar-pastors."  He is the author or contributing editor of 12 books and numerous articles in professional journals and says his greatest delight at being on the faculty of RTS is that he has a regular opportunity to touch a new generation of preachers. He and Barbara have two adult children and two grandchildren.
